SHUN
The word shun means to avoid deliberately and especially habitually. Our short synopsis will be taken from Luke 4:28-30 They rose up, dragged Jesus out of the town, and took him to the top of the hill on which their town was built. With much emphasis to the verse 30, They meant to throw him over the cliff, but he walked through the middle of the crowd and went his way. Key phrase is Jesus walked his way through the middle of the people. That's a very smart move Our Lord Jesus made to avoid any damage. If he hadn't walked his way out of their presence, it's very obvious they would have thrown him off the cliff and that would have cost him his life.
Beloved the lesson for this story seems to be clear and simple. We must try our possible best, one way or the other to be vigilant which is to say alertly watchful especially to avoid danger. And sin is dangerous, let us be able to shun situations that will lead to sin. If it's a place that will cause you to lose your integrity, shun! If it's a friend's advice that will cause you to go wayward, shun! If it's a movie or a song that will lead you back into sexual immorality, shun! In fact anything that will cause damage to our Christianity, must be avoided. Protect your eyes, ears, lips and body from sin. Did you know? That when temptation comes your way, it is much easier to avoid than when you actually walk into a temptation. An epitome; a married man does himself good when he avoids a seductive secretary in his office but this married man does himself harm when he visits this same secretary at her home for any reason at all. Thinking about this, is to say, one must also shun tempting situation. It is not going to be easy, but the constant effort to shun sin is worth it.
Dear Lord Jesus, we thank you for wisdom to shun sin, please Lord we ask that you forgive us and grant us great grace to avoid sins, direct or indirectly. We thank you for the ability and power to do so. Amen, God bless you. Embrace, 🥂.
